LOST PET AWARENESS MONTH

@

Hammocks Veterinary Hospital

GET 25% OFF YOUR PETS MICROCHIP TODAY!

Pets get lost all the time from escaping the yard, to being stolen, to being left behind. Statistics show that 6-8 million pets enter U.S. shelters each year, in which many are lost family pets. According to Home Again, 1 in 3 pets will get lost during his or her lifetime. The most secure way that a lost pet can be reunited with their family is by implanting a microchip. The microchip has a specific identification number assigned to it. When a pet is scanned with a scanner, the microchip number is detected. The microchip number must be registered with the owners contact information in order for the microchip company to contact the owner.

Hammock Veterinary Hospital is always looking for ways to help our furry friends, including reuniting them with their loved ones, should they ever stray a far.

In May, we will be promoting Pet Lost Awareness by providing a special 25% discount off of our microchips! This includes the microchip implantation and registration for an entire year!

Visit the Home Again website for further information on microchips:   http://public.homeagain.com/

Don’t forget, if you refer a friend you will receive a credit of $15 on your account, all year round!

  • Two main classes of fatty acids that are important to the health of your pet are the Omega-3’s and Omega-6’s.
  • Animals can’t produce all of the fatty acids their body needs; therefore they obtain these essential fatty acids through their diet.
  • Certain diseases may result in the inability to produce a sufficient amount of fatty acids.
  • Fatty acids can provide many benefits such as (but not limited to):

-allergies

-autoimmune conditions

-inflammatory diseases (inflammatory bowel disease)

-dull and dry coats

-yeast infections

-atopy (hereditary allergy)

-eye disorders

-heart disease

-cancer cachexia (metabolic condition of progressive weight loss)

-cholesterol levels

  • New research has shown Omega-3’s are beneficial in the reduction and effects of histamine and other chemicals released in response to allergies.

Which fatty acids are Omega-3’s?

  • Alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA).
  • EPA and DHA have anti-inflammatory properties.

Which fatty acids are Omega-6’s?

  • Linolenic acid (LA), Gamma Linolenic acid (GLA), Dihomo-gamma-linolenic acid (DGLA), Arachidonic acid (AA).
  • LA is important because it optimizes water permeability in the skin.

 Essential fatty acids

  • Deficiencies may be related to their diet.
